2025-04-29: New Tableau Dashboards and Retirement Reminder

As the transition from Cognos to Tableau progresses, we wanted to share key dates and information regarding the decommissioning of specific Cognos packages. The following milestone dates will affect your access to Cognos Packages. Plan ahead and collaborate with your data consumers to minimize disruptions.

We are excited to introduce new Tableau data sources and dashboards to help you make more informed decisions and streamline your business processes.

What's New?

  • Course Catalog: A new dashboard designed to provide visibility into the University's course inventory, combined with each course’s most recently scheduled class offerings. This resource includes,

    • Catalog Overview: A complete listing of all courses in the University catalog with filtering capabilities to view only courses with upcoming changes, enabling efficient catalog management and curriculum planning.

    • Catalog Change Review: A specialized view displaying courses with pending changes, offering side-by-side comparison between current and future course details, simplifying the review process and ensuring accuracy in course updates.

    • Retired Courses: A reference repository of discontinued courses, maintained for historical documentation, student inquiries, accreditation reporting, and catalog management purposes, preserving institutional knowledge and supports compliance requirements.

  • OUR Course Repeats Report: A new dashboard created to provide Schools with a full report of courses repeated and not flagged on students’ academic records. This resource will,

    • Provide a list of repeated course attempts with a report on the student’s full course history

    • Provide a downloadable report to submit to the Office of the University Registrar

What Do I Need to Know?

University data users relying on the ST Course Catalog, Class Schedule, and Cognos Course Repeat Report should begin transitioning to the new enterprise Tableau resources as soon as possible. The old Cognos packages and Repeat Report will be phased out in the coming months. Starting early allows time to get comfortable with Tableau while still having access to Cognos reports for validation.
