Tableau removed my data and I can't get it back
Tableau Relationships offer flexibility in viewing and displaying data but this feature can have unintended consequences when using data that is missing from one side of the “data relationship”.
Replicating the issue
This data source includes details on students, the history of classes that they are enrolled in, and details about the student (e.g., student’s major, units taken, etc.), the class (i.e., class name, instructors, etc.), and the student’s grade in the class. In this example, we are looking at just class names and numbers (no specific student information is being shown here).
Most of these classes do not have instructors assigned to them - so notice that when we bring Instructor Name into the view, the classes with no instructor assigned to them disappear.
Resolving the issue of missing rows
Oh no!! Classes without instructors are still classes, so we need to bring them back!! How do we do that? The easiest way to do this is to bring a Measure Value (usually a green pill) related to classes into the view. In this case, we will use Number of Students
field - and put it on the Text Shelf (as shown below) and – voila! – all the classes have returned into the view.
