PERIS: Researcher Overview

Description

This Researcher Overview dashboard offers a summary of submitted and awarded project proposals entered into the PERIS application. We provide different views where you can search for summary and detailed information about projects associated with a particular PI, non-PI collaborator, Department, or Project Title/Keyword.

Key Business Questions

The dashboard included here summarize all project proposals or awards for a specific researcher in the role of Principal Investigator or Collaborator; or in one or more Department(s) or Responsibility Center(s). Use these dashboards to answer questions such as:

  • How many awards and award dollars has Researcher X brought in over the last 3 years?

  • How many proposals has Researcher X been listed as a collaborator on?

  • What kinds of research projects (using keywords) does Researcher X lead?

  • What kinds of research projects (based on keywords) come out of Department Y?

  • Who are researchers working on projects related to keyword Z?

Basic Usage

There are three dashboard tabs described on this page:

All dashboards include a detail table that includes information about the Project Title, Principal Investigator, Submitting Department, and several project dollar amounts, which include:

  • Total Requested: Requested total project costs

  • Project Total: The estimated total of the award value over life of award, at the time the award is initially created.  It is manually calculated when the user enters estimated total direct and indirect costs on award setup and is often not updated if there is a net change.

  • Total Obligated to Date: The total funding amount officially authorized by the sponsor through the current date.  The dollars are not calculated as authorized in the database until the budget reconciliation step is completed.  Until the award is Active, the funding amount can be adjusted as the award moves through the approval and review process.

  • Total Obligated in Year 1: The total dollars initially funded by the award for the first award budget period; the initial period can be any date range, not necessarily a one-year period.  It is the calculated total of the authorized dollars assigned to period number 1 in the award budget allocations. Until the award is Active, the funding amount can be adjusted as the award moves through the approval and review process.

The view also includes a list of project proposals/awards where the selected researcher is listed as the primary PI. To change the selected PI, click on the magnifying class to open the search menu.
